Roof Re-bedding
Roof re-bedding is needed when the old mortar on the roof has cracked and deteriorated to a point of no return as a result of movement from the house, or heat contracted from exposure to the sun and expanding the roof. Therefore, we use a mixture of sand and cement to create a binding substance that can hold down ridge cap tiles. This is extremely important to maintain as if it is not maintained, it can leave the roof unsecured and potentially dangerous as tiles can begin to fall.
Roof Re-pointing
The second crucial step in roof repairs is roof re-pointing, which is a second layer that is placed over the top of the bedding. Flexible pointing compounds are used in this coating, which helps the material expand and contract in parallel with the changing weather conditions. This is also used to create a stronger hold on the tile’s position and ultimately seal the roof from dust and wet weather conditions.
